Repairing An Apple IIe and Apple IIgs display

So this is an interesting project I had for a client. They had an Apple IIe display that wouldnt power on and another apple IIgs display with a broken tilt mechanism. Both of these devices are from the mid 1980’s so its remarkable that they still function, but things were built to last then.

Both monitors in all their 80’s yellow glory.

First up was the Apple IIgs monitor, it had a broken tilt mechanism and opening it up revealed that the plastic guides holding the crt ‘cradle’ had broken off from the frame. Using some epoxy that I tested on the plastic first , I put them back together.

Plastic guides separated from the frame.

Next up is the Apple IIe monitor. This one wasnt powering on at all initially. There are two internal fuses on these and sure enough, it was the lower fuse that had blown and it was quite dusty so needed a cleanout.
